Family recipe. Grandma wanted to set a good Christian example and wasn’t much of a drinker, so I never tasted this until I was an adult. This functions as a punch, far more than the salad she called it on her recipe card. She wasn’t fooling us.
Servings: 20 (1 Cup) Calories: 155 per serving Equipment: Large punch bowl. 2 qt round bowl to freeze sherbet, stirring implement.
- 1 container (generally 1.75 qt) rainbow Sherbet
- Jarred Citrus Salad, large. Generally 64oz.
- Frozen Strawberries, 32 oz bag
- 1 C green Grapes, seedless
- 1 bottle Pink Sparkling Wine, 750 mL bottle.
~~~
- This will be served in a large fancy punchbowl. Find a small bowl to slightly melt and then mold the sherbet into the smaller bowl. Re-freeze for a few hours.
- Right before serving, mix the fruit and place in the large punchbowl. Include juices.
- Upend the sherbet into the center of the punch bowl.
- Pour 1 bottle of pink sparkling wine over the sherbet. Add the grapes to the punchbowl.
- Serve right away with a ladle. Will be chilled for service.
Bon Appetit!
